DishNetwork's site says SD content is up-converted to HD for the VIP 222k, but it doesn't say that for the VIP 211.

Does this mean the VIP 211 receives a HD signal without having to up-convert a SD signal?

Or, do both receivers have to up-convert SD content to HD and DishNetwork's site is omitting that fact from the VIP 211 description?

Finally, would there be a difference in picture quality between a receiver that receives a direct HD signal compared to a receiver that has to up-convert a SD signal?

but its still sd...
its only going to look nice if its real hd. and thats not just dish, thats just the way so called 'up-converting' works.
anyway, there is no difference in picture quality between the 211 and 222. but personally, i think the 211 is a more reliable, nicer piece of machinery.

I think when they say the SD signal on the VIP 222 is up converted they're talking about the signal to TV-2. The VIP 211 is only a single tuner so there is no TV-2 signal to be up converted.
