I'm setting up a motorized dish and printed out the map from dishpointer for Galaxy 18 at 123W (almost due south of here). I set the motor to zero and turned the pole using the landmark (just to the right of a big tree several blocks away) and I'm way off. I'm currently watching Montana PBS which seems to be on AMC21 at 103W.

So, am I doing something wrong or what?

BTW, nice to at least get something, tells me it's working in general. :)

[edit: I'm SURE I'm doing something wrong, or else the planet shifted. :) ]

right, brain fade. Well then, not bad for my eyeball aiming. Thanks for the mental reset...somehow I started reading the wrong aiming for Galaxy 18

not sure where in ca you live, my true south is 121.o W, what is your zipcode

I'm at 122W. Now that I have AMC-21 it's about time to start dialing in the other satellites, hope that goes easier.

I've got an HD8000 so it might be "interesting" to get the rest of these in (not the best documentation in the world).
