Do I really need a Dish 1000?

I have a Dish 500 system with a 721 receiver. I would like to upgrade to a 622 to be able to view HD programming. Would I need to upgrade my Dish 500 to a 1000 to get the HD programming?

Does it make a difference in what part of the country I'm located in on whether I would need a Dish 1000? I live in Urbandale, IA.

Yes. The $299 upgrade fee includes the installation of a Dish 1000 to view the HD channels that are on 129.

is there a chance that all hd channels could be moved from 129 to 110? just hoping i guess. it would allow many people already with a dish500 to upgrade only their receiver to receive hd channels (cheaper for dish network too, no dish1000s to install). you could leave the satellite setup alone.
