First, hi! I'm new here and really appreciate you hosting a site like this.

I just purchased a JVC HD52G787 52" rear projection TV. Tt's specs say:
5th Generation D.I.S.T. 720p(Digital Image Scaling Technology) + GENESSA Picture Processing.
Here is a link to this model on JVCs website: http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027717&pathId=114&page=2.
My question: Should I buy an upscaling DVD player, or let the television handle it? I am considering the OPPO DV971H DVD player if I should use it for upconverting.

Thanks,
Kenny

Welcome to Satelliteguys!

The Oppo would give you a better picture. The TV will handle it OK but not as well as the Oppo.

Thanks for the info! Now, from reading here, I can't decide between the OPPO or the Toshiba HD!?!?
