Recently found out that the new E*10 Satellite is going to be Ku. Is that different than what is currently being broadcast? Will special equipment be required to receive the broadcast?

Thanks,

John

no

KU band covers a lot of frequencies. This will be a DBS slot (12.2-12.7 MHZ) E10 has a lot of spotbeams on it and will be coloated at 110 with E8 & E6

Is it true that when it is fully programmed that it will eliminate the need for 105 for locals and possibly the need for 61.5 for HD? Meaning that I could go from a Superdish (105, 110, 119) and 300 dish (62.5) Back to my old 500 dish and get locals and all HD? Location is Central Illinios.

Thanks,

John

No, it only will do local channels, it will not have capacity to add any HD at 110. You will still need a dish for HD. Now being in IL you could get Dish 1000 and have 110/119/129 on a single dish get to take down your 61.5 and only have a single dish.

Good point. I forgot about 129 and dish 1000. Currently trying to get waiver for cbs ny HD (at 62.5). But once my locals go HD, Dish 1000 would be the way to go.

The other day I was just messing around with my 300 dish and pointed it at 129. Got 91 for signal strength. Would the dish 1000 get about the same signal?

Thanks,

John
