Eagle football and men’s basketball games and coaches shows will be televised by Belo Media Group Spokane, with KSKN TV Channel 22 serving as primary carrier

The Eastern Washington University Athletic Department reached an agreement in principle with Belo Media Group Spokane (BMGS) to produce and televise Eagle football and men’s basketball games in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 athletic seasons.

The agreement includes a minimum of four football games and six men’s basketball games to be televised per year, with KSKN TV Channel 22 serving as the primary carrier. The agreement also includes coaches shows that will be carried weekly from September through March.

The agreement was reached between BMGS President and General Manager D.J. Wilson and Eastern Associate Athletic Director Mike Allen. Besides KSKN, Belo Media Group Spokane includes KREM TV Channel 2 and KREM.COM, and is affiliated with Northwest Cable News and NWCN.COM.

"We’re thrilled to be the home of Eastern Washington University football and basketball," said Wilson. "With over 30,000 EWU alums in our coverage area and many more EWU fans in the area, we're very pleased to broadcast the games over the air to our local viewers."

"This partnership is an important step for Eastern Athletics," said Allen. "It provides alumni and supporters greater exposure to our programs, and will introduce our coaches, student-athletes and the Big Sky Conference to new fans in our region."

"We really appreciate the work that D.J. Wilson and the staff at Belo Media Group has put into making this partnership a reality," Allen added.

Tom Hudson, the sports director at KREM TV, is expected to handle play-by-play duties for the football broadcasts. A radio/television simulcast is possible for the men’s basketball games and would feature play-by-play by the radio "Voice of the Eagles," Larry Weir.

Games will be produced by Dan Lamphere and directed by Kevin Tomkins. The coaches shows will be produced by Noah Cooper.
