I installed/mounted a 1000.2 dish for eastern arc satellites. After aligning the dish using a meter, I then connected the receiver (VIP211K) and ran the switch test. Only 61.5 satellite showed up after the test. Signal strength was 50. Saw a few posts online saying the Hybrid dish will not work with a VIP211K. My question is can I change the LNBF to make it work?

The Hybrid lnb will work with the 211k as long as you don't have a hopper 3 hooked up or hub.. just going straight to the LNB with the cable and to the receiver.. Your probably hitting the 61.5 with the 72 lnb head..when standing behind the dish looking at the white plastic eyes the left one is the 72 and the right one is 61.5..cover the 72 with aluminum foil and check the signal.. if no signal move the dish slightly up and to the right..

Thank you for your help, very much appreciated. I will align the dish per your instructions.

Does it matter what LNBF is on the dish?

Only if it's an EA LNB for the 1000.2. Most LNB's built for the 1000.2 were intended for WA since the EA started out with a different collar and slightly bigger dish, called the 1000.4.

The Dish EA LNB for the 1000.4 is a triple unit that receives the 61.5, 72.7, and 77 sats. The 1000.2 LNB is a double unit for 61.5 and 72.7 only.

The 1000.4 is slightly larger than the 1000.2 and uses a different mount with fine tuning adjustments the 1000.2 mount doesn't have.

Dish 1000.2 - 19"H x 24"W
Dish 1000.4 - 20.8"H x 22.3"W
Thank you for the information

All true but the question was "Does it matter what LNBF is on the dish". I was trying to head him off from buying the WA LNB designed for the 1000.2.

Someone posted this one time and I saved it. I think it is accurate.

Dish 500 22.5”H x 20"W

Dish 500+ 23.8”H x 30.9"W

You can't be all that old or you would have told us all the part numbers for legacy LNBs. :D Yes, with the right yoke, they would fit on a 1000.2.
I always liked the original Dish 1000. They had not started integrating all three orbital slots into the same LNB yet, so the yoke had a separate slot for the 129 LNB. I was able to take advantage of that, by re-aiming the dish so that I could get both Bell Expressvu and Directv using a single dish (with separate receivers, of course). The standard Dish 500 Twin (or Quad in my case) LNB fit the slot intended for 110 and 119, and would also work with Bell Expressvu receivers. By re-aiming the Dish 1000 for Bell Expressvu satellites at 82 and 91, that meant that the other slot intended for 129 lined up exactly with Directv's standard-def satellite at 101. I put a legacy Dish LNB in that slot, and connected it to my standard-def Directv receiver, which worked just fine. :) This was a "stealth" way to have other services, while still using a Dish-branded dish.
