The isuppli estimate is out for the Galaxy Tab's manufacturing and materials cost. Estimated to include $205 worth of materials, plus another $9 worth of "manufacturing" costs. Comes in a $214, not bad for a device selling for $499 from Best Buy, and $629 from Verizon. (The ipad cost $264, but its got a bigger screen).

Not certain what to make of these, but interesting nonetheless.

Whein/if the tablet market gets established (Apple does the heavy lifting on this one for the whole industry), BOM shows the margins for price reductions. As long as the Tab is the only decent Android device available, Samsung can charge a hefty premium. In 2-3 months it should be a whole different ball game...

Diogen.

I hope so. A $350 Android tablet would be a wonderful thing. I saw $350 instead of $299 because I realize the need for a profit margin, and if it is costing $215 to make it not counting advertising, that is a pretty thin margin. But these $700 device prices are outrageous.
