Ethernet port on 622

Are there any future/rumored plans for the ethernet port on the 622? I just ran cat5 to mine for the hell of it....

About all it does now is get an IP address.

Well it looks like it is not pulling an IP address, I had my HD-DVD player plugged in instead (I had forgotten it from when I did the last firmware update on it). The DHCP table on the router is not showing any unaccounted for entries.
