Just curoius if anyone has been able to negotiate better package Deals with Dishnetwork if your an existing Customer. The reason I am asking is when I subscribed to Dish all I wanted was all the Available HD that is out and is coming up.I was told TURBO packages would offer that. Most of us know that hasnt happenned. Now in order for anyone to get all available non premium HD you have to subscribe to Classic 250 ,Platinum and 10..00 Hd add on.(I think that if you have to subscribe to any classic package,The HD add on should be waived or reduced if you subscribe to Classic 250, if you also subscribe to Platinum that should be only 5.00.Which would be a 10 discount.Well I guess I am in a dream world as Dish is out to make money for Charlie can live on his (Supposedly)6 figure salary.
It would be helpful to know if anyone has been successful in getting their pack fees reduced.
I know TV is a Luxury and if you cant afford you should go down to a package you can. This has more to do with Dish not making the package more user friendly and less confusing. And the fact I pay close to 100 a month for I can get all available HD is a waste as I have all these extra SD channels I dont want or watch.but forced to pay for them in order to Get HD.
Dish used to be cheaper than Cable but now its catching up and if prices increase too much more they will be losing people who go back to Cable as when Cable goes out you dont have to pay to fix or have a Dish to fight with.Honestly if cable was available where I live (I live in the Country)I would consider it as It seems everytime we have a wind event no matter how tight Dish is ,it gets knocked out of line and where my Dish is located makes it impossible for myself to go and adjust on my own.If Dishes prices continue to go up (Technically my Rate went from 49.00 a month in TURBO,to 90.00 because of the way thier HD package now are offered)thats a big raise in 1 year.
Please no comments on "If you cant afford it you should downgrade" The issue isnt my ability to afford (I am doing just fine "Thank YOU" .Its Dishes packages that are screwy and need to be fixed.
Let me know if anyone has been able to get a better price!

The best you will be able to do is $10 off a month, 3 months of free HBO/Starz, and 3 months free of Platinum HD. You will probably have to add a 24 month commitment for those, but you may be able to get away without that.

They are giving me a free upgrade to HD this weekend and a HD DVR as well, with 2 year commitment.

Maybe if you are not under contract, they would match whatever deal a competitor would give you.

At $2-3 per day, TV is cheap entertainment anyway.

I would be Happy with any of those.

Here is the deal I got (signed up on Friday) Getting installed this Monday evening.

I just signed up with Dish for American Programing.. Been with Dish for 10yrs but had left to Cox for a year do to a promo. Kept my international channels active to keep my status with Dish.

Cox had a massive rate hike after adding 15 new HD channels so I called Dish and got a good deal from talking with the Dish Account Specialists.

The normal Dish CSR were charging me $75 a receiver with no added discounts!!

Trubo HD Gold with Classic 250 + locals in HD

1. 722 HD DVR Duo (free)
2. VIP 211K HD Solo ($25)
3. VIP 211K HD Solo ($25)
4. $6 for Protection Plan
5. $7 for the two other HD receivers ($14 receiver fee)
6. $ 10.00 off for 12 months.
7. HBO & Stars free for 3 months
8. Cinemax for a penny for a year (already have this promo which dish keeps extending for a penny).

A total of $ 76.99 for 12 months, and $86.99 for the second year. (Price does not include tax).

Even after verifying the order twice the Dish account specialists (since I spoke with two different people) gave there Rep IDs, and said keep these, and call us at the is number if you problems with anything.

I thank Dish for keeping loyal to a long time customer of 10yrs!!

Heres my Deal

CEO got back to me today(On a Sunday what a surprise). After reviewing my account ,he agreed I got shafted as I signed up just as VOOM was leaving and was lead to beleive I would be able to get all available HD when it became available if I had TURBO GOLD.I was told Dish is working to have these additional channels added to Turbo but for now he could offer me some discounts to offset having to pay extra just to have all the HD .
Heres the discounts I was able to get
10 dollars credit for 12 months
free platinum for 6 months
Free HBO and Starz for 3 months(even though I had this offer previously)
also was promised that Platinum and HBO ,Starz would automatically be deleted at end of free offer unless I decided to keep.(I will watch account anyway)
I didnt expect this good of a deal but it never hurts to ask. Also CEO gave me a direct number to call if any problems with billing.
Everything was turned on and Credits applied.

The CEO told me he gave us a good deal because I was polite and non demanding in my request.
So now instead of Bill being 96.00 a month its 75.00 which is much better as I would have just TURBO HD that would be about the same if you consider I dont watch the SD channels much anyway.
I cant promise anyone else can get this type of deal but it never hurts to try ,especially in todays economy ,they dont want to lose customers.

Just about any existing, not new, sub can get the $10 reduction for 12 months if you extend our commitment. All subs are eligible for the HBO promo and a 3-month Platinum HD promo. If they didn't extend your commitment back out to 24 months, you got a good deal.

Didnt extend contract

I made sure these offers werent trapping me in a longer contract,I still have only 12 months remaining .HBO/Starz is available to Subscribers but not usually again if you had it before like I did.So that was added Bonus. As for platinum I had free offer before but didnt watch much as there was nothing of interest of those channels, but now that they have added a few more Channels it might be better,so offering it again to me would benefit Dish as I am most likely going to keep Platinum after the free 6 month.
(Just a Note to Subscribers, its not a bad idea to call Dish every now and again to check on how much longer you have to complete committement(if your like me I am not good at dates)Just in case they try to pull a fast one and extend without your knowledge. They did that to my Sister and when she tried to cancel Dish after her time was up she was told she was still under contract, what it came down to was the wrong end of contract date was put in system(should of expired Dec 2007 but was put in as 2008.Fortunately for Sister she keeps good records.
I dont plan on leaving Dish after contract but I like the option if prices keep going up and also if they dont make packages more user friendly.

Definitely watch your account. I was told my Platinum HD would be auto canceled at the end of the end of the free offer. I ended up being charged and did online chat. They argued I did not cancel and should have known they charge a month in advance. He only offered partial credit on next months bill, not the full amount I was charged. Well, after repeating "I want a full credit, not partial" 10 times (I kid you not) he finally gave in. I could tell he just wanted me to go away and caved in. Hopefully you have a better experience than I do. Word of advice, save all of your online chats (or emails) in case you need them.

I called them a month ago (Regular CSR) and told them I was gonna be forced to switch to a TWC Cable Bundle (Winback Promotion), and inquired if there was anything Dish could do to keep me a sub (out of contract).

They gave me an additional $20 off per month for 12 months without a new commitment. This was in addition to a $15 off per month they gave me last October, when I called to cancel my account because they didn't carry my rsn (MSG-B) in HD so I could watch my hockey team in HD.

So basically, I am receiving $35 off a month until October of this year, then $20 off until May of 2010. I just hope they finally do resolve their issues with MSG so I can get my hockey games in HD next october, and not have to switch to TWC or D*.

Oh, prior to these discounts, I would be considered one of their best customers since 2003, with a $100 monthly bill, plus annual sub to NHLCI. Both times when I got these discounts, I wasn't nasty, but I just told them politely why I was gonna have to cancel, and they are were the ones that brought up these suggestions to keep me a Dish sub.

Dish has been offering more things to existing subscribers this past year. I am surprised they are losing as many subscribers as they are with all the promotions they give their existing subscribers now with discounts and hardware upgrades. Are they just not adding the subscribers they used to or do they have higher churn or both?

The main reason I stick with Dish is because of the offers they have for existing customers. DirecTV does not come close.

The best existing customer deals I have seen come from local retailers. I got a 'customer appreciation" flyer the other day that offers $10/m off for the next year, a free DVR upgrade, and 3 free months of hbo/starz/platinumhd. Sure, it requires a 2 year contract... but Dish has my business for a while anyway. That is pretty comparable to what they offer new customers.

And then you have crazy deals like Cinemax for a penny.

They are being smart in making sure that they are locking their customers into long-term contracts. If they are lax about that, people will just dump dish and go with DirecTV or Comcast. They made the wrong decision before in not catering to customers without long term contracts, and they lost a lot of customers. Now they are wising up.

It is the same thing with the Cell Phone companies. When you are under contract they give you nothing. But when your contract is expired, they really start loading the goodies to get you to re-up.

I got that same offer you did, what a great deal.

Promises Made ,but not Kept

I want to update my post as of Friday May 15 th.I finally got an email back after waiting a week to have what was promised turned on.Dish took back their offer and are only giving me a 12.00 credit for 3 months.I didnt ask for any specific offer, the offer that was made was solely at their discretion. But telling me they were going to give me Classic 250 with HD for the price of HD gold and not following thru is inexcusable.I dealt with a CEO and if thats the way Dish does Business, when contract is up I will be moving to other provider.I emailed CEO again re-explaining the offer I was given(Copied and Pasted chat transscript)will see what happens. Most likely they will just ignore like they did all this week.I am hoping its just a mistake and hope to get resolved,if not its thier loss.

The combination of deals is really good. $10 off, free Starz/HBO, Cinemax for a year for a penny, free HD Platinum for three months, and equipment upgrades along with HD channel additions makes things pretty nice to sweeten the pot. I am just wondering if they will continude to do this or sweeten the pot even more to continue to try to keep customers. Hopefully they realize that it costs less to try to keep existing customers by giving them some deals instead of paying so much money to lure a new customer in.

I have been thinking for a while now that they need to really do something to keep the customers that they have. Sometimes they offer the deals too late waiting until they shut you off and called another provider to offer the deal. Its too little too late at that point. Dish may not offer quite as good of a deal in some cases as you would get by switching providers but if they prevent people from calling around and keeping them in contract then it would not be as big of a problem. Making people sign another two-year contract is fine if you get the benefit for two years. Having to sign a two-year contract to only get one year's worth of promotions seems not as good to me. I think they need to give someone a deal for two years if they make you sign a two year contract.

I have been thinking about upgrading to HD since football season is just around the corner. Looking at my account Dish is charging $75 to upgrade to a 722. In my opinion that is to much since I am out of contract and I already have a 1000.2 installed. On the on line chats the rep. won't go any lower than $75 so I am thinking the best option is to call Dish and see if the retention department will get me a better deal. Does anybody have any advice for dealing with the retention department?
