The Chargers had the misfortune of needing to draft a QB that year, soon after going to the Superbowl, because their starting QB (Stan Humphries) had to retire due to several concussions. I remember there was a debate over which QB was better that year, Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf. Indy made the right choice with their first pick.
