Name Echostar EX-3

This is the third license granted to Echostar for the new 17Ghz BSS band this year (79W) - . And, Echostar has posted the 3 million dollar bond for each of the first two licenses within the required time period. More licenses to come.

5 year design and construction

Looks like the satellite construction business will have a nice bump in the next few years (assuming they can get financing)

For review, what are the other 2 licenses they has been granted?

Sounds like a nice compliment to 77W. Now they need to get to work making use of BSS.

I wonder how useful these slots will turn out to be. 17.3-17.7 is less spectrum than current dbs 12.2-12.7 and seems like it would be very susceptible to rain fade.

But, I could see an ideal use of it for spot beam LiL. Spot beams can have a lot more power to cut through the rain fade and the reduced spectrum will not be as much of an issue with spot beams.

Interesting they did not redact the account and routing numbers from the check at the end of the document.

It's 17.3-17.8. The same 500Mhz sized-block. Only catch is, top portion is allocated to International service. With Dish Mexico service, Dish will be more than happy to make some cash down there. That 100Mhz will be used.

17Ghz will have higher rain fade than 12Ghz, but still better than DirecTV's Ka. They can compensate with higher power a la E11 and more FEC.
