Hi,
I stumbled upon this article and was surprised by the information contained in the article. The article specifically only mentions the cable industry as being affected by this July 1 rule, but I also wanted to get some opinions/facts on if, and how, this may also affect satellite subscribers. If at all.
If this is not where the article should be posted, I apologize.

This is going to be big... very big.

The short story: CATV will be required to use cablecard in their new STBs.

I get the impression though that Mr. Martin is trying to get rid of STBs v. integrating the CableCard into them.

Edit: Never mind harshness. I found what you were stating: http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9710918-1.html

Will be very interesting to see how this will all pan out by 2008.

Sounds to me like theywill have to use cable cards instead of STB from this point forward, for all new subs, provided they have TV's with cable card slots available.
