I am currently in the process of moving to Indiana. And my buddy and I decided FTA satellite should be our next route in the process of free-tv. I have a Epson 8350 projector with a 92inch screen, so i need a box with HDMI. I also have a HTPC running xbmc and boxee off a server with windows 2008r2, so that covers almost everything I need except the random livetv shows.

I was wondering what box I should get (have been looking at Pansat 9200, AZBox, and Openbox S9) which of these would you recommend, or are they completely different? Next I was wanting to know if I can use a Dish network satellite dish to get channels? My g-pa has one that he owned before switching to Directv. If this dish will work is it something I can mount to a motored stand to rotate it?

Generally speaking, a 36" (wide) dish is highly recommended for general FTA reception.
If you grandpaw happened to have a DishNetwork Superdish, it already has a linear LNB and is nearly wide enough to get you something.
Take a picture and measure the width of the dish.

Motors can be fitted to most Ku-band dishes.
Once you know which dish you are going to use, we can suggest some motors.
I wouldn't go to the effort and expense to motorize one too small, though.
(other than for experimenting and bragging rights) ;)
