For those who want to get ESPNU

I emailed the ceo account a couple of days ago asking them whether or nor E* would be picking up ESPNU, especially before college season starts. I had previously asked customer support but got the "we don't know" answer.

Well, two days+ and no reply. This is unusual from the ceo people.

May I suggest that if you want ESPNU to email the ceo and let your voices be heard. We have to get their attention somehow. :D

This is just a rumor but I have heard from a few sources that Dish will be launching a handfull of new channels in late August and from what I know ESPNU is one of them.

Because this is just a rumor though I invite you to to email dish and tell them exactly what channels you want. :)

I have emailed customer support and got the "we don't know" answer. I emailed the ceo and have gotten no response. If you will give me Charley's phone # or email, I will ask him! (Not really :D )

I hope your rumor is true and it would behoove E* to put out something on this to let everyone know. (Yeah I know, fat chance) I know of several E* subscribers that will switch to D* if ESPNU is not available before Football season starts.

If you have any pull, perhaps you could goose them a bit? :bow

I'm on the bandwagon...

What's the best e-mail to send our request to? I'd also love CSTV as they will be showing some D1 football games this fall, too.

I just sent a somewhat lengthy email to ceo@echostar.com, stating that as a former employee, they are losing much more business than they think to people who leave or don't sign up because they want more sports, and how it pisses people off who want more sports and charlie calls it a small niche, then they announce more international channels every week. also, it creates more efficiency probs because i hated calls from international calls, 80% were horrible and could neither understand or speak english well or at all and took forever.

As a huge sports and college kid and a team at the top of the rankings with a game on ESPNU and no possibility to go to the game, I want to see it on TV and will switch of I don't see ESPNU and I think they are underestimating the sports nuts who want to see everything.

In all fairness, I realized I sent the email to the wrong address! I resent it to echostar.com. Maybe that will help! (Dooh! :shocked )

CSTV has been uplinked on the sat (channel 152) since last September. Dish has just never turned it on to subs.

I hope they will before football.

Well, it helps when you send it to the right email address. :no (another Dooh! :shocked )

Their reply:

Thank you for your recent email. I apologize I can not give you exact
answer but we are still in active negotiations with ESPNU and CSTV. I can
keep you update once I hear anymore information.
Thank you

Since you're a College Football Fan, I'm surprised they didn't tell you take advantage of their ESPN Gameplan Early Bird offer for only $99 - $20 off the regular season price.

Me to, but, I wouldn't get it. All the games I want to see are on ESPN 1,2 and U. (CSTV would be a bonus) I will pick up the sports pack which will probably contain ESPNU and CSTV.

Hey Scott,
Any of those new channels happen to be HD? Espn2 HD....

I just received this email back after the one I sent earlier this morning to the ceo email address.

Dear Jason,

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding your interest in ESPN U and CSTV. Our Programming Department advised that we are currently in active discussions with the providers of both of these channels, however nothing has been
finalized at this time. Hopefully we will be able to reach an agreement in the near future.

As a former employee and loyal customer we sincerely appreciate your feedback.

Scott you've got to research this thing man and see if it's true. Bribe someone if you have too1

If the DO add these, I guess we need to speculate what programming package you will need.

AT120? 180?

My guess would be, ESPNU on AT120 and CSTV becomes part of the sports package.

Then again, it remains to be seen if we'll see these before several months. When I see "E*" and "negociations" in the same sentance, it sends a chill down my spine.... Thank God E* does not negociate Peace Accords!

DirecTV has added ESPNU and CSTV to their Sports Pack only, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Dish do the same. I'd be surprised to see then added to one of the base packages.

I think E* does a pretty good job of negotiating. I am sure that ESPN wants an arm and a leg for ESPNU just like it does for the rest of its channels but I have faith in E* negotiating fair terms.

As I am sure most of you know I am not a college sports fan. There is no one school that I bleed for. It just doesn't interest me. Oh btw last week I met Charlie Weis, the head football coach at ND, I was on campus and saw him numerous times. Got to check out his latest (1 of 4 ) Superbowl rings and damn is that thing huge. I met most of the starters for ND on the track, just walking around campus or at the dining hall. What a week I had.

Freakin' Notre Dame fans. This site is going to hell in a handbasket if we have Notre Dame fans aboard. :)
