Unless you're moving to a cable co you will have the same issue with DirecTV. You can not have one account with receivers in multiple locations. It's called account stacking

I do not want to stack the account. I will not be taking my receivers in house 1 to house 2. I want two sets of receivers in two locations. I don;t even have an issue with paying for both locations. My issue is that I MUST start a new account and sign a two year commitment. For a place in another part of the country where I will only be staying for one year. That means when I get back I will have two accounts at one location with no recourse.
 
One account with equipment in 2 locations is account stacking.
 

What you want to do is considered account stacking. What you said you will not be doing is actually ok.

If you're going to be there for a year then just do a DishMover.

Why not just use Sling/Dish Anywhere to remotely access the existing account?

Yes this is called compromise......and for some strange reason that is now evil in some political circles?....Strange hea?
 
If you want both addresses actively able to watch tv at the same time on one account... That is account stacking. If you want one address active at a time, then just do a DishMover. If you want the second account without the commitment, just purchase the equipment. There are multiple options, but what you have stated so far is the absolute definition of account stacking. Without further clarification, that is all we can go off.
 
Most of the people who get discounts call up dish and threaten to cancel or complain about how long they have been a customer. Very few actually get major discounts just for asking.
I just received 10 months discount plus free HBO for a year for being a 4 year customer. Still no contract and I was told simply to call in 10 months too see what discounts I am eligible for when these expire. No threats needed
 
Just got off the phone with Dish Free upgrade and free installation. They wanted to come out this afternoon but I scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. The representative could not have been more helpful or nicer. Great experience, can't wait.
I have only needed to contact Dish a handful of times, but it has always been a good experience with a more than acceptable outcome.
 

I was referring to the new customer price of $34.99 for 1 year for AT120. We do not have any add-on channels or packages. We've been customers since 2004 and have always paid on-time. My wife and I are discussing some of our larger monthly bills and our Dish bill is currently $105/mo for AT200. We don't need 200 channels anymore and our TV watching is only moderate. We are just trying to strike a good balance for ourselves without completely eliminating a service that we like. Also the Hopper has been a great DVR but we've experienced some freezing and other glitches lately. So if we stick with Dish, we would like the new H3 box.

I'll either wait for DIRT to contact me or call customer service. Sounds like I probably won't get a one year bill reduction all the way to the new customer price, but they can help me out in some way.
 
i scheduled my upgrade today and they said i would have to join the protection plan... i stated i have been a long term customer and it got waived. so all i had to do was the 24month commitment
