Does anybody know why FSN Ohio is not in HD like all the other RSN`s? College football in SD again. FSN Ohio only goes HD for Cavs and most Blue Jackets games. But nothing else. What gives?

Found this on TitanTV and HD Sports Guide:

"Illinois Fighting Illini at Missouri Tigers from Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis MO"

If that's your game then it's produced in HD and nearly every other FSN affiliate has it; so have you checked with FSN Ohio to see if THEY are carrying it in HD? and if they aren't why?

right now the game is Illinois/Missouri, with Wash. St./Oklahoma St. later tonight. I know it`s in HD on all the other RSN`s showing this game, but my b*tch is why doesn`t DTV carry FSN Ohio (& FSN Cincinnati) in HD full time. It IS on in HD on TWC and U-Verse, so it`s not like it isn`t available. I can get the Sports Pak, but I feel we are getting shortchanged here in Ohio. I pay my bill, just like all you do, but I bet you get your RSN in HD

DTV reps don`t know anything about it, and FSN Ohio hasn`t returned yet

1st line call center folks likely will not know (this is not their job role); you need to ask to speak to supervisor or better yet, advanced techs or an engineer (or something like); ask if they can confirm IF said channel should be broadcasting this particular event in HD; not if the channel has HD availability. Also explain the same event is in HD on other DirecTV provided Sports Nets and (if I read you correctly) that your Sports Net has it in HD locally on other systems.

FSN-O is only in part-time HD on DirecTV. The Cleveland version (660) will only be on the -1 HD with the Cavs, and the Cincinnati version (661) only for the Reds and Blue Jackets.

DirecTV needs to take FSN-O full time with the Columbus feed, which has all three teams, with appropriate black outs and using 661 part time when two teams play at the same time.

There is no special Columbus feed. The only thing that Columbus gets is both of the channels.

You are incorrect.

The Cleveland feed, which DirecTV carries on 660 carries the Cavs and Blue Jackets, and used to carry the Indians.

The Cincinnati feed, which DirecTV carries on 661 carries the Reds and Blue Jackets.

The Columbus feed, which is what DirecTV should carry, carries the Reds, Blue Jackets and Cavs (and used to carry the Indians). On cable, in the Columbus zone, if two teams are playing at once, one of the teams, generally the Blue Jackets, are spooled up on the "community interest/public access" channel.

All DirecTV needs to do is drop both the Cincy and Cleveland feeds, and put the Columbus feed on in full time HD on 660, the system will black out the Reds and Cavs in the appropriate places. Then use 661 (and 661-1) as an RSNa, putting the Blue Jackets there when the main feed is carrying another game. Same as cable.

They could just re-map another channel's HD feed and open that feed up for those in Ohio. I noticed yesterday one of the football games on Fox Sports Detroit Plus HD was the Fox Sports Houston HD Feed.

Thank You Samcdbs. I`ve wondered what the folks in Columbus were getting. Both FSN-Ohio & FSN-Cinci (Reds blackout) feeds are what U-Verse subscribers receive here. (Kent-Akron). According to DTV`s web site, my zip code, 44224, should be receiving FSN-Ohio, STO, & FSN Pittsburgh. We don`t get Pittsburgh, but we don`t get FSN-Cinci either.

People in Columbus get both of the FSN networks on Directv. This is why it is no big deal for anybody in the Columbus area.

I was talking about what channels are on Directv. In reality the Columbus feed would just be a waste of space since they already get both RSN's and have all of the teams covered.

You are also taking programming away from the customers when they are showing a game that is not supposed to be playing in that market. It is fine how they have things right now. The only thing that needs to happen is to turn them full time HD.

If I remember correctly you don't get all of the programming from FSN Pittsburgh but you can watch the Pirates games only. This is because the Pirates coverage map hits your area. I did not believe this before when somebody told me about it but when I was able to watch a Pirates game it made me a believer.

The only time I got FSN Pittsburgh at all was when I bought the SportsPak. Then I received the Penguins games, but no Pirates (black out, but who cares, I already suffer with the Indians), and I would also get Blue Jackets games on FSN Cinci when the Cavs are on FSN Ohio.

You must be outside of the Columbus market then as I that market already gets the Jackets on FSN Cinci as well as the Cavs on FSN Ohio when they are playing the same time.
