Okay guy's, Here is my challenge of the day!

I have:
Directv WorldDirect dish
Not Motorized/stationary
Soniceview 4000
diseqc 1X4 switch
2 Linear lnb's

I currently have a WorldDirect dish pointing at 97W and is working just fine. And now I want to get 99W (news feeds) on the same dish. The dish currently has 1 linear LNB but I want to somehow attach a 2nd linear LNB somewhere and somehow on the dish to pull in 99W. I don't really want to move the dish position. I have been reading in other threads of people using brackets they purchased from Home Depot and fabricated to fit the dish.

Going to attempt this project today, but first I have to mow my lawn/leaf's, edge, clean my drain pipes and some other stuff. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Please reply with any tips and tricks as I will check this thread when I'm done with the yard work.

Thanks!

PS: Standing behind the dish, Do I put the new linear lnb on the left side or right side?

I doubt that you will be able to achieve 2 degree spacing with a dish that small. The LNBs would have to be built into each other, like the feedhorn on the 121 Superdish. But if you want to try, you would place the 99W LNBF to the East of the 97W one (opposite of the way the birds are in the sky).

2 degrees is going to be tough. You can't put the lnbf's side by side since they will hit each other getting closer than 4 degrees. Unless you make some major mods to the lnbf cases like a couple guys here did I don't see it happening. For more info search for threads for 125 and 123 on the same dish.

To go to the west you would put the lnbf for 99 on the left side (standing behind the dish)

I have done 123 & 129 also 97 and 101 and currently are looking at 97 and 103 on one of my dishes.

Here's my thread on 2 lnbf's good pointers there:

ditto:

In addition to all the good advice above, the size of the dish (focal length, actually), is a contributing factor.
The below threads shed some light on the subject:

Okay........ Appreciate the advice to say the least. So, If I wanted to get a good news feed sat......Given the suggestions above (2 degrees too close) is there another sat that has some occasional news feeds that I could try to position a lnb to find?

I plan on programming my birdog with a certain satellite and playing around with the second lnb.

Hey Tron, would 2degree maybe work with an 84e dish? I have 2 of them not doing anything right now, that sounds like a good project.

If you strap two LNB's side by side there is about 4º of separation.

One LNB on an 84e would work great! I've got one myself.

There might be some 'bullet' type LNB's that would allow closer spacing, not sure.

Man that's some serious southern engineering you did on those 2 LNB's. :up

WescoPC is up in Oregon, but he sure is one crafty fellow! - :up

And if he had to grind down two SatelliteAV mini LNBs to get 2° on a 1.2m Primestar, I'm doubtful you'll get 2° on the shorter 84e. -
...if you want proof, Linuxman did two (bigger) LNBs on some 84e's in these two threads.
I'm sure the measurements are there to see how close you could get a couple of the mini's.

Well, I have a couple of 84e dishes courtesy of Stogie that were used for HITS, and they have a dual LNB feed support that gets 4 degree spacing. The feedhorns are rather close, though. If it could be done, as said above, it wouldn't be easy. You would have to take a bandsaw to the feedhorns and carve something out, I would think...

It was a thought, since those dishes are so wide it seems like it might be more possible than with a round dish of similar size. Two degrees is very tight though.

So if I have two linear LNB's on my worldirect dish. one lnb is already pointing to the 97W what would the easiest sat to get with the second lnb using the bracket provided?

Standing behind the dish, The LNB that is already looking at 97W is on the right.
