Hi guys

I've found a bunch of troubleshooting threads on Hooper 3 rebooting unexpectedly but wanted to start a new thread for my problem.

I have an H3 that is about 2 months old now. On Saturday night, I was watching TV and the show froze onscreen. I waited for 10minutes to see if there was a glitch but I couldn't change the channel or use any of the buttons on the remote. The image was stuck. So I pressed the red reboot button on the front of the receiver. The receiver restarted and service resumed as normal.

Since then however, the H3 is shutting off sometime during the night and not starting back up. So when I turn on the TV, there is nothing on the screen and I have to press the red reboot button. Because of this, my Joeys are also losing service and my timers are missing recordings.

This has been happening everyday since Saturday. I've tried doing a reset by unplugging the receiver. Today I have tried plugging the receiver directly to the wall instead of the power strip. I'll report back again tomorrow if the issue still exists.

Is there anything else I should be checking?

Be sure your Hopper isn't overheating. If the problem continues you might need a replacement.

Is there a way for me to verify that? The Hopper is an open space with proper ventilation. It is a refurbished unit so while I say that I've had it for 2 months, I'm not sure how old it actually is.

If it's in an open space and it's not hot to the touch then it's probably running cool enough.

How long did you leave it unplugged from power? Believe it or not I've seen some weird Dish things cured by unplugging from power for several hours. :)
