Has anybody besides me noticed that the HACKERS always start their post
with:

1) "I am new to FTA"
2) "Excuse me, but I am ignorant"
3) "My new box (brand name) isn't working right, can you help me?"
4) "How can I pick up 119 and 110?"

I know nothing about HACKING, nor do I want to learn, but I am starting to recognize these idiots?

I like reading those posts because I get to see Iceberg type in like 732 point font and scream no hack talk. That always makes my day. And while we're on the subject of "hackers" I think we need to properly address these thieves. They are not "hackers" they are "Free TV'ers" . Huge difference.

I still don’t get why people get a boner for stealing Dish. I know that’s a pun and the reason is porn. That’s all these low life scum want. Most of these people probably live in mommy’s basement and need their porn. We use to have the porn channels (Ten, Xtasy and Playboy) and it’s the same stuff over and over. For fun I will look at the names of those titles in my Dish guide and it’s the same ones about every 3-4 days.

When they lost porn, oh my god the world was ending
When they lost PPV, it was no biggie (not much hoopla)
When they lost the Sports PPV, it was like their best friend died because they couldn’t see old trailer Trash Springer and those Hot Body ones.

Unfortunatelly, they'll never learn. These are the same people who stole cable and now with most premiums on digital, they switched to stealing Dish.

Pirate TVers sounds like the right term to me.... If I put up my OTA antenna and get my over the air stations for free, then FREE TVers sound like I should be included in that group.
Pirate TVers sounds like the term for those that steal the signals. Or at least the term that can be said here and not banned for the language.....

i can attest to that..........i asked a question about a bin file update on the pansat 3500 that i got straight from their website..........i thought it was an update that i needed because it was on their website...........believe me when i say i have NOOOOOOO clue about how bin files work, or what changing them even does.......there are some people like me that really are clueless.......but for the most part, there are people out there that play dumb to get what they are looking for.

Once again, ftadirect does not support, promote, or want business from hackers.. if your planning on buying a fta system for that purpose, dont not call us to ask any questions about that, or buy from us. I have seen the show Oz, and dont want to live it.

I know were talking about non-hacking threads here. I don't even have sateliite was getting dish but that never worked out.

I have to say on behalf of the "bird stupid" I came to these boards because I was going to have dish and I wanted to read more about how it worked, opinions etc. Now that I'm not getting dish, I'm sticking around just to learn about OTA and FTA (BTW I learned those acronyms from here too).

I've been fascinated by Sateliites since my uncle had one of the those big ones and I used to watch the dish move to change channels, when I was 6. Although it could be maybe I'm just retarted.

Some people like myself might post questions that seem "hacker friendly" just because we want to learn more.

Stealing services weather it be Sat. Signals/Cable/Telephone just drives up prices for the people that actually pay for it.

OTA is an antenna used to pick up digital Radio Waves

FTA comes of the sat.

But its not as complex as you make it. there is no 2 way communication. you tel your receiver to tune to this frequency, this symbol rate and this polarization. if the channel is scrambled you get a blank screen. if it is Free to Air you get the picture. assuming your dish is aimed correctly of course.

Shadow explained it pretty good. There is specific info that is programmed into the box and it picks up all the signals on that transponder (transponder can have anywhere from 1 to 15 channenls on it). You just have to be aimed at the right satellite that the channel is on

If stuff is scrambled, then you need either a card for that service (like Globecast) or a specific receiver (like some of the commercial stuff)

Danny Boy, My understanding is that a typical satellite receiver is simply that, a receiver. The satellite can transmit to earth various signals. Some in a format that you might call public domain, or unencrypted. Thats free to air. Other signals are purposely encrypted to limit viewing to those who pay to see them. The paying viewer has a receiver that is capable of receiving and unencrypting the "scrambled" signals. A subcriber's receiver may be connected to a phone line (via built in modem) so that it can relay to the satellite company your choice to active a particular chanel, view a pay-per-view movie, for instance. The receiver tells the satellite company during its next call in that you chose to view an additional pay service, and it then appears on your next bill. Unless you are talking about an uplink or satellite internet, the satellite does not receive any direct feedback from the earth station in your home. And by the way, the law is clear that it is an offence to unencrypt encrypted satellite signals without authority from their provider. It is also clear, at least in Canada, that this offence is committed, even when the source of the signal originates outside your country, and / or there is no ability to subscribe to the service in Canada. We are long past the wild old days when the law did not protect "scrambled" signals and it was simply a battle of counter-measures between providers and wannabee viewers.

They are not hackers people, in fact I have not seen ANYONE post on here EVER that was a TRUE hacker. These morons that you see posting from time to time are CRACKERS. They are trying to find a way to CRACK the sig. I will admit in the primestar days it was easy, but now it is not so easy. Okay, you can't crack the signal, and even if you did it won't last long, it is a redundant process staying ahead of the ECMs, the updates, and the like.

A hacker might rather, hack the companies system; have himself sent a receiver, card, dish, LNB and all the other equipment. The point of this is that the person is in the system; he would look like a real user, and would not have to worry about the ECM’s and the like.

Se we have a cracker….

What are we going to call these people? I heard several suggestions but they are connotations for things. Why not call them what they are. TV Crackers or TV Hacker, we can also make an acronym such as TVC or TVH.

BTW, the term hacker is vastly over used in my opinion.

Most of these people are leechers. A Hacker is someone who hacks their way into someone else's system. This requires skill. A cracker is a person that cracks codes. Also requires skill. A leech is someone who depends on the skills of others for their own benefit.

If the person was intelligent enough to crack the codes, they most certianly would know how to load the bin. These idiots are just trying to get free tv.

As far as the comment above, (Just kids in the basement), I don't think that's true. From what I've read in the past, it's mostly middle aged, middle class working people who can readily afford to subscribe to these services. The reason they do it is because they believe that they are so important and respected in their communitity that there can't be a record of them ordering pornography. Their neighbor that works for the cable company might bring their bill to church and oust them in front of the communitity.

It's just a stupid thing to do, and I guess I just don't get it.

Well said. The people who post hacking related questions on a legit satellite site are morons. They have no knowledge of the technology, and require hand holding to do anything. Its a wonder they even know how to turn on their system.

The people who actually figure out the systems, they are extremely intelligent. In fact, I would think they would want their work to remain quiet and secret, so as to stay "under the radar".

There are many reasons people try to beat the system, none are legal excuses to do it (thus being illegal heheh). The same holds for many illegal activities.. Why do people smoke pot? why do people cheat on their IRS form?
