I am looking to pick up my own set of tools to make some coax cables.

At my work, we use the classic crimpers, but I find the ends lack slightly in the weatherproofing department.. so....

I am looking to get a set of Compression fittings and the appropriate tool.

I see a bunch of "PPC" branded compression fittings on ebay, and I was wondering if anyone used them, and had any feelings either way about their quality and reliability. I have used Digicon before, and liked them, but they are more expensive (same price for 25 digi's as 50 ppc's)

I am looking specifically at the PPC EX6's, and I will be using Times Fiber RG6Q cable (Quad shield, 2x foil, 2x 60% braid)

These auctions are the ones I am looking at:

I have used them when I worked as a "CABLEGUY". They work great on quad shield coax. I still use them when I come across a prewired home. If they have quad shield cable in place I use it EVERY time, I don't carry it on my truck, just regular solid copper RG6 2.2GHz.

Do you know what is the difference is between EX6 and EX6XL? They both have the exact same description on their website..

Sorry, just guessing the "XL" is for the extra large dia. quad shield out there? Sometimes the ones I have have to be forced onto the cable. They are real good fittings!

Thomas and Betts makes the Snap n Seal line of connectors too. They work very well but may be pricey for a hobbist.

Those fittings are fabulous for any rg6 all the way to quad shield like Pete said. I work for Time Warner and those are the only ones we use. They are the best imo. Easy to work with.
