I finally bought a HDTV and need to know everything about hooking it up to my Dish account. Is there an upgrade option to trade in my old reciever? What dish do I need? I now have a Dish500 w/DPP+
I usually do all my own hook up's.
Any answers will be greatly appreciated.:D

Your going to need another dish pointed to 129 or a dish1000
You might need a different switch, you might get by with your
switch if you run 2 coax cables to vip 622 DVR

If your going to lease and not buy the receiver, might be cheaper
to go through dish promotion on the no cost free DVR DVRAdvantage
package availabe Feb 1

In Alabama, he'd probably be ahead to put up a second dish aimed at 61.5.

61.5 is generally better. The current sat at 129 wobbles a bit and some folks have problems with that. The HD demo channel is only on 61.5, but that's no biggie, believe me.

With a DPPlus, run the wire for the second dish (61.5 or 129) to the input on your existing dish and use the seperator that come with the 622 to feed both tuners. No need to run a second line to the receiver if replacing the existing one.

Good thought. I have a 70cm Winegard dish hanging around doing nothing. I may as well put it to work. What LNB do I need? Dual or twin? Or is there a single?
TIA.
