We have three TVs, one on the Hopper3, one each on Wireless Joeys. The two on Joeys are both Samsung sets, one is 65" about 14 years old, the other 48" probably 8 or 9 years old.
Both sets were set up with HDMI/CEC. The usage I had was that when the TV was turned off, if I pressed the SAT button on the side of the remote, both the TV and the Joey (if in standby) would turn on. If the set was on and the TV was changed to an alternate input, ie, HDMI3 for Roku, pressing SAT would return the TV's input back to SAT (HDMI1).
When we moved to our new house and Dish relocated the system, the configuration (using the same TV and Joey) of the 48" set lost the HDMI/CEC mode and the SAT button now only controls which box the remote communicates with. If the tv is on one of the other inputs, pressing SAT changes the remote but does not change the TV back to the STB HDMI1. All control of power of the TV is using the power button only, and all input changes to go back to HDMI1 must be done manually.
Suddenly now, the other set, 65" Samsung, has also inherited this attribute. I don't know what happened or if I did anything but the 65" which would switch back from Roku to SAT by just pressing the SAT button, stopped working. Same as the other set - only the power button turns on the TV and no other HDMI/CEC modes work. It's strange because the 48" set started off that way, but the 65" set survived the move and was working.
I've reset the Joeys and reconfigured the TVs to be sure that HDMI/CEC is enabled. The "net" suggests turning CEC OFF then powering off the TV then powering it back on and finally enabling CEC. Didn't change anything. I toggled CEC mode on the JOEY (why is it an attribute of the remote? That makes no sense). Did the same thing - turned CEC off. unpaired remote, removed batteries, replaced batteries, paired remote, enabled CEC. Still nothing...
Ideas?
Is the use of the SAT button to do a "master power on" no longer supported?
PS. The set attached directly to the Hopper3 (not sure what it is) continues to work fine.
