I currently only have one HDTV receiver and LCD set (my primarily viewed set), and another secondarily viewed SD receiver and CRT TV set. I am considering upgrading the second set to HDTV. If I buy a basic HDTV receiver and another LCD HDTV, what else is necessary to begin receiving HDTV on the new equipment? Is there additional cost on DirecTV if I already have the HD service on one set?

You should be good to go with just getting your SD receiver upgraded and purchasing a new HDTV. Since you have HD service there's no additional cost for that and you're already paying the monthly fee for a second receiver and there's no difference there if they're SD or HD. Might give DirecTV a shot at upgrading the SD receiver. When I called they upgraded mine for just shipping and handling which was around $20. Remember you're not "buying" a receiver, just leasing it, so get the lowest up front cost.
