I asked Gregg (he ISF'ed my Toshiba 51HX83 in March) what is the resolution displayed by our HDTV's. He said my HD CRT RPTV with 7" guns best resolution, even after tweaking is 900-950 lines.
My question for you gurus is, what are our HDTV's really measuring out with their displays? Even if (big if) our HD monitors receive a 1920 x 1080i they will at best display only 1000 lines (I'll find out if its 900-950 vertical or horizontal) of resolution.....any ever measured what our displays really display?

I'm pretty sure the 720p models are true to their specs. I have a Sammy DLP.

I think it's the 1080i CRTs that are limited to rez's.

I'm sure the specs are discloused somewhere

BFG,
I can't believe all 7" CRT RPTV's can only display 900-950 x ????i resolution. I emailed Gregg again about the vertical/horizontal measurements. I'll ask about DLP's & if they really do 1280 x 720P...when I get an answer.

if this is true about CRT HD RPTV's.......how can someone notice by eye the downrez'g D* is doing with 1080i material......even if 12?? x 1080i instead of 1920 x 1080i, when our CRT HD RPTV's can only display 950 x ????i.

Even if a DLP does a true 1280 x 720P.......then with D* HD-Lite its getting 12?? x 1080i....not much scaling to do.......or am I missing something?
I've only had HD for 2 years now, so I'm learning.........
