Help! How do I reset my 508 password?

I changed my 508 password and forgot it. However I am afraid if I call Dish they will make me totally reset the receiver to defaults and I will lose my recordings.

Is there a way to reset the password and NOT lose the recordings?

If not it is going to take a long time baking up my drive to VHS

Call dish to unlock the reciever, they ask questions to verify you are who you say you are and then your good to go. A parental access hit will reset all the locks on the account but won't touch your programming on the hard drive.

Thanks I just wanted to know from someone knoledgeable befor dealing with a clueless CSR. If it wipes out my programming I will be mad because I have some gems on there.

For those that want some extra protection when the kids are gone lock the front panel buttons and take the remote with you or hide it when you are not home. This way they cannot change the channels but only turn the receiver on and off. Tune it into an educational or harmless channel or something.
