I plan to set up using a CK-1 LNB. I installed the circular filter, though doubt that it will be of any use - never know. But my question is, the end cap on the LNB doesn't fit tight at all . I feel it will come loose over a short period of time, so wondered if wrapping some teflon sealing tape around the sleeve portion of it will help. Also, there are 8 holes around the outer edge of the face of the cap. Won't this be an invitation for water to enter the LNB? Should I place a sheet of cellophane over the end and then put the cap in place? The CK-2 is almost identical if that will help. I could post a photo if needed.

Thanks, Bill

Mine was loose too...and fell off once! I just put some electrical tape cut in half length-wise around the inner part and popped it back in no problem!:D:up As for water entering...your dish would have to be on a really wierd angle, for it to be pointing "business end" up!

- The CK-1 seems to have a positive reputation, for those with the skill and patience to get the Ku fine-tuned.

- That little insert is for circular C-band only. Unless you are looking to receive circular C-band, don't install it.

- on a prime-feed dish, the LNBF looks down at the dish, never upward. So, the holes are to allow water (or condensation) to drain from the LNBF.
If you had a mini-bud with offset feed, and the LNBF tilted upwards, then you'd have a problem to deal with. :)
Please do not block the breather holes.

Thanks guys, That's sort of what I figured. I put the circular filter in place to "keep from losing it", but figured it might pose a problem with linear reception (still a newbe :D). Better to ask than be sorry, right? I had to virtually drive the thing in place and it won't quite let the cap seat all the way against the LNB housing :(.

The filter is now just before being removed, the cap shimmed (I think I'll use the teflon, the adhesive from electrical tape can get to be messy after a period of time :p) and the LNB mounted. THEN - it's on to interpreting the manual and setting up the CS6000 for DiSEqC and the new 1.2 dish.

Thanks millions :up............Bill

Thanks again. I have the LNB mounted, though nothing really SET, per se, all is mounted and aimed close to where it will be when tuned in. It looks like the LNB will be close to level, so I'll take it from there as to what to do about the holes.

On another note, two laps of teflon tape (the kind used for pipe seal) worked great :). The cap has a nice snap to it. Not too tight, but feels solid enough to hold :up.

I'll look at some photos later, or may be able to tell when I start trying to aim at 91W to try to figure out just where to place the LNB. There was no paperwork what-so-ever with it , but I did find info here on the CK-2 which is identical except for the built-in switch on the CK-2. I have a 1X4 DiSEqC connected and that should work fine.

Having to work 8-hour days and take care of other things after work sort of eats into satellite time - ha. I'll get there, maybe even learn from it ;).
