I am trying to get RTP International. As far as I can tell, this is free channel with no encryption. I recently had a Go Satellite dish installed with a Sonic Viewer 360 receiver. We set the dish to 101.0 W as noted on the FTA list to get RTP International from the AMC 4 satellite. No luck with RTP International. However, we did receive a number of other channels from AMC 4. Does anyone know what I need to do to get RTP International? The Satellite Guys list it as being available. The relevant numbers I have are 12033H, 3003.

I'm not sure what all that means, but I thought I would put them here for anyone who does know and can offer some guidance. Thanks!

List a few of the channels you are getting.

Go to the Dish Setting menu.
Go down to "Transponder" and look for your TP below:
TP Freq: 12033
Polarity: "H"orizontal
Scan Rate: 3003

Some receivers have a problem with low symbol rate channels ( 3003) so you might have to manually enter that info. Look to your manual for how to manually add transponder and channel info for your rec. I have sev that are 'blind' to that channel on blind-scan, but will pick it up once it's entered manually. What other channels are you getting - check that you are finding both H , horizontal, and V-vertical channels on that satellite and that you have good signal strength and quality .

what channels and signal quality are you getting on those other channels?

RTPi more often than not needs a manual entry and not a blind scan

I do get ABN Latino, Bethel TV, Apostolic, Setanta, Hope Church, something in Polish and Dutch and Russian.

Those are on horizontal and vertical from what I can tell. Is Setanta viewable or just scanning in?

To add the transponder for RTPi go to the menu, then Installation -> Dish Setting -> Transponder. Look at the bottom of the screen and see if any of the colored buttons are listed with "Add TP" or "Edit TP" or "New TP" or "list" etc. If one of them is "add TP" hit that and enter the information, 12033 is the frequency, polarity is horizontal, symbol rate is 3003, if it asks for FEC select auto if possible, otherwise 3/4.

Once you've added that transponder it should be the selected one and you should see signal quality on the meter on the right side of the screen.

RTPI is also a weaker signal, so you need to have the dish aimed just right. For comparison, the MCPC ones are very easy to aim a dish for as they are a little more forgiving of aiming errors.

Thanks for your recent message. I did what you suggested and hit "Add TP." I put in 12033, H for polarity, added the symbol rate of 3003, and Auto for FEC.

No channels were captured during the scan. However, I did notice that the signal strength was strong 84 to 86, and quality was 68.

Any other recommendations?

Explanation of PID, etc.

Can someone please tell this newbie what the following numbers refer to? I am still trying to access RTP International using a Sonic Viewer 360 receiver. No luck so far. Everything I see says I should be able to get it. Thanks.

They refer to the Transponder for the given Channel
TP Freq: 12033
Polarity: Horizontal
Scan Rate: 3003

You can enter that info into the receiver and scan in the channel.

Try a transponder scan (greeen button I think) instead of sat scan (I belive this is the red button) and do like Iceberg sugested and scan all (FTA+scambled).
