Help with "Pixelized" HD Channels

First of all, I apologize if this is a "dumb" question or topic, but I need some help.

I currently subscribe to Dish Network via a reseller called "Accelerated Broadband" in South Florida, which my condo association switched to from cable. The decision to switch was not a popular one and they've tried to get out of the satellite contract, but that's another topic.

My current problem is intermittent "pixelized" reception on a few HD channels - namely CNN HD, Disney HD, Bravo HD, ABC Family HD, etc. The other HD channels are pretty stable. This problem only happens on my VIP622 HD DVR in the living room. I have another HD receiver in the bedroom, which is pretty stable on all channels.

I've had the technicians out and usually, the HD channels are working perfectly when they come out. One of the techs recommended I upgrade the cable splitters to avoid signal loss, which I have done - buying the best splitters I found at Home Depot.

Whenever troubleshooting this over the phone, the representatives usually have me do a channel scan, which sometimes helps temporarily, but the problem then comes back a few hours or days later.

I doubt it's a weather issue as for example, the image was fine yesterday when the technician was at my place and it was stormy outside. A few hours later, it was bright and sunny when the CNN HD channel was unwatchable due to all the pixelization.

Our building is very tall and there are supposedly very large dishes on the roof. I also spoke with my building manager, but it seems I am the only one having this issue, which doesn't mean much, as I doubt many of the elderly people in my building even have HD TVs.

Can anyone please give me any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you tried swapping tvs and seeing if it helps?

What is your signal level on the particular satellite of the problem channel during pixelation? Menu - system setup - etc., to see.

96-102 is a higer signal than almost everyone can get (with the new scale). So yes, they must have large dishes on the roof. Was this the signal strength when you saw issues? Try checking next time you are having issues.

Agreed. Also, make sure you are on the proper satellite, it could be 110, 129, 119...

Try swapping the TV's and let us know what happens. At least you could eliminate the TV from being a potential problem.

The repair man was here for two hours. The poor guy replaced the Q boxes, tried a different receiver, and lots of other things.

The images kept coming in pixelated.

When I mentioned to him that another technician mentioned something about the wireless internet router, he unplugged it and the image came in perfectly clear.

It seems that Dish Network's "Q boxes" are not shielded and the wireless router was causing the interference.

He wrapped the "Q boxes" in aluminum foil. Problem solved.

I hope.
