Could someone help with suggestions on how to receive Talkstar on G27? I searched some old threads and apparently some of you have it, but I've tried on 3 different receivers and can't get it. I presently have a Coolsat 6K and P* 1.2 meter, which yields Q of 97% for WSTV. I have already changed the freq to 12.027, but I could never get it before, anyway. Is there some other equipment I need? I tried auto scan, manual scan, and blind scan using the "detail" setting for symbol rate. No luck.
Thanks,
Sky

Try your audio setting button if you have one.
Talk star is on the 2nd audio channel when your on WSTV.
Working here this last weekend just fine.

Thanks Squirrel,
Wow, I must have had it all the time and didn't know it because it didn't show up as a separate radio channel. I'm assuming what I'm listening to is Talkstar, but it has a bad echo in it.
Thanks,
Sky

Great you got it. Both TS and WSTV for me it works best also to select right or left audio only, forgot witch one but your right you get the echo on TS if you run it in stereo.

The X Zone is a good show.

They have some good shows on the weekends also.

Also on G19 on the radio side you can get Access America where you can hear the FTA show and the Satellite show. Both are very informative for us FTA folks.

Squirrel,
I listen to the FTA show every now and then...very informative and good to listen to a show that supports our hobby. Love your avatar, is that the squirrel from Ice Age? He stole the whole show, would have been a real snoozer without him.

Not to be a thread Hi-jacker, but does anyone know of an Air America feed on FTA satellite?
My closest affiliate is in Jacksonville, about 75 miles away, and it's on AM!

Never heard that network on KU for sure or C for that matter, They may be encrypted or a different format. You could always try getting it over the internet also.

Skyscanner
Yep that's The Ice Age squirrel, Always messing with the FTA here so I picked that, and that is the best critter on that movie. He is setting a dish base and eying for the best line of sight in the avatar,,Ha Ha.

I take it Talkstar left Audio 1 left channel on that transponder?

I know that WSTV was on the right audio and some audio was on the left but sounds like they dropped the radio...Thank goodness WSTV isnt in stereo :)

Its on the 2nd audio channel when your enjoying a WSTV movie, If you go left and right on that 2nd audio channel you get an echo echo echo. So you need to pick one I noticed.

You can watch the movie and listen to Talkstar at the same time when the movie messes up or the dirty bed sheet falls down that they project on.

Imagine one of them old old movies where the sound is out of sync in stereo,,,ouch.

Some True WSTV effects....Oops, did not meat to knock them, overall its a great channel, surely must be a low budget deal and they do great with what they have to work with, I could not come clost to it and hey its free.

You are unlikely to find Limbaugh or Air America or any other talk program considered "mainstream" on FTA. All major radio programming on satellite is on C-band. You need professional equipment to receive it, and increasingly the radio content providers are authorizing the receivers at radio stations only for the specific programs the station subscribes to.

Long gone are the days when I could switch the sat receiver at the radio station where I work over to Howard Stern, etc., and listen in when I was bored at work.

However, there are plenty of talk programs and networks on FTA. Most are on 97W, check the radio services on The List. Some of it is pretty interesting, and you aren't likely to find it on your local radio station.
