The big companies will get most of it and it will not get spread to as many people as they think as a result because it might be used on existing infrastrasture that some places may already have and just charge them in grant money for it (Verizon charge for fiber that is already ran) and crap like that. Some of the small broadband providers will suffer when it is expanded and put the small guy under that did bring it to areas that the phone/cable companies wont and some people will lose their service. If a small provider has a decent area that gets DSL then those other smaller areas that have no hope of ever getting anything will no longer have service available to them. I dont think they realize this. This is why it is important who gets the money for grants in certain areas. If there was a requirement to get everyone broadband that wants in throughout a whole state then that would be different because nobody would get left out.
