At one half the vertical and horizontal info =960x540=518,400 pieces of info vs. 1920x1080=2,073,600 full 1080p thats about a 75% loss in image info. Haven't read the article. I'm sure it mentions flicker free (no shutter) many of the modern active shutter sets eliminate that issue. Vertical viewing angle is an issue on passive 3D. Last but not least look at your Sony HX820 3D images are consistant side to side, until reflections prevent any viewing (in a well lighted room that is about 150 (75) degrees. 3D passive also degrades 2D images

Outside the US, many countries use active shutter for movies. 3D glasses will be less than $75 with rechargeable batteries, this year. Would a Sony 40EX720 at under 1200 be worth it compared to a passive 3D VisioTV?
