Hi all, I have a used Dish 311 receiver coming in from fleabay and hope to use if for portable operations with a Dish 500 and a DP Plus LNB.

Looking at the DP Plus LNB with the unit on it's back and the coax connectors at the bottom there are three connectors from left to right. The left one is hard to tell but I think it might be marked 1 the next over is marked 2 and the one on the far right is marked LNB IN

Do I have this correct - I would hook the 311 receiver up to the left connector 1. The next one over would be used with a second receiver and the one on the far right would be connected to a second dish for 61.5? This would not be used with the 311 so I just leave it disconnected?

How do I figure out where to set the skew? The 311 needs 110 and 119 so do I just go to dishpointer and get the skew for 110 or 119 or something between the two? Or climb up on the roof and look at the Dish 500 up there ;)

Thanks, DC

Yes, you're correct with the connections on the DPP lnb.

I would just use the receivers point dish screen to find the pointing coordinates. Put in your zip code, check the dish 500 box and it will give you the pointing coordinates.

Thanks for the quick reply. That is too easy ;)

Take care, DC

In this case, "skew" is the tilt angle between the 110 and 119 LNBs. Since they're circularly polarized, you don't have to align them individually to the satellite like you do with a linear LNB.

I assume that the receiver will do the calculation for you according to what type of dish you have. My 622 does.
