Hopper 3 Two Questions

We currently have VIP622. One of the features we like is being able to swap between the two tuners we are buffering to keep up with two programs WITHOUT recording either. Can we do this with a Hopper 3?

We are distributing the Dish signal through a Channel Plus Demodulator to our bedroom. We can control the VIP 622 from there with an RF Dish Remote. This remote is in addition to the original that came with the receiver. Is this possible with the Hopper 3? If so which model Dish Remote can do this?

Thank you,

Henry

Good morning, Henry! At this time with the Hopper system, every TV that you're wanting to receive DISH on would need to have it's own receiver, in this case one of our Joey receivers. Now, when it comes to our Joeys, we have two different styles available, we have a wired Joey that's connected via a coax in the wall like your current TV2, and a Wireless Joey which has it's own Access Point that it will receive the signal from and can be moved within approximately 50 ft of the Hopper depending on what kind of materials are in between the receivers. Some cool things about the Hopper 3 are that it has 16 tuners, so you can watch or record up to 16 live shows at one time, and also includes a customizable multi-view option where you can have 4 channels on the Hopper TV, at the same time. - Jake B

Yes, you can swap between two tuners and you can even buffer 4 tuners using MultiView with a Hopper 3.

And yes, you can still modulate the composite signal with your Channel Plus modulator and send it to other TV's. All of the Hopper remotes are RF so you can use any of them to control the Hopper from another room. You can also have up to 8 remotes paired to each Hopper or Joey.

I thought it was six! :( I need to check out this capability. Does it require 4K mode?

Nope, it's four. There's four quads in MultiView. Vivek mentioned at one point that it might be upgraded to six but that never happened.

No it doesn't require 4K. It will output on regular HDMI and even on component and composite. :)

Edited to add that if you're using MultiView in 4K mode then the component and composite outputs are blank.

Do you know which Dish Remotes other than the original for the Hopper 3 will work in RF mode with the Hopper 3? It appears the Dish Remote 40 will do this.

You're welcome Henry. I still have a couple of Channel Plus modulators in use here.

All the Hopper remotes work in RF mode. That's the 40.0, 50.0, 52.0 and 54.0.

Thank you very much. Good to know the Hopper 3 will pair with up to 8 remotes at one time and there are so many remotes that are compatible. Do you have a preference for one of the ones you listed?

I like them all except I'm not that crazy about the 50.0 because of the touchpad.

The 40.0 has the most buttons for easy access to menus and features.

The 52.0 has two power buttons, one for the TV and one for the receiver.

The 54.0 has voice control and is backlit.
