X-MEN VS AVENGERS: Fox’s Mutants May Be Making A Comeback Against Disney http://finance.yahoo.com/news/x-men-vs-avengers-fox-013324975.html In Marvel Comics, which is owned by Disney, the Avengers defeated the X-Men in a recent crossover known simply as "Avengers vs X-Men." In the box-office battle between Disney's recently dominant Avengers franchise and 20th Century Fox's X-Men, however, the mutants may be making a comeback.

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past," which opened on Friday, is on track to earn the fifth-highest Memorial Day weekend gross at $110 million in the U.S . Although those numbers are not exceptional , it's a decent start, and very strong reviews should help generate a long run. Its timing seems good, too, stealing the spotlight from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and not facing another comic book movie until "Guardians of the Galaxy" in August. And it's got star power, with Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence, plus Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing and more.

A Few Of Marvel's Future Projects May Be In Trouble
Over the weekend, Disney lost not one, but two directors on future Marvel projects.
Late Friday, Marvel announced director Edgar Wright ("Hot Fuzz") departed next summer’s “Ant-Man” movie. Shortly afterward, word spread that showrunner Drew Goddard was leaving Disney’s “Daredevil” project that’s heading exclusively to Netflix.

The consensus from the film community was a collective display of shock: What is going on?

Up until now, Disney's Marvel machine has cranked out success after success. Its recent "Captain America" sequel has taken in more than $700 million worldwide.

These two announcements suggest all may not be well behind the scenes as Disney attempts to continue its domineering comic book franchise.

The first piece of news was a giant blow since Wright invested a lot of time and effort on “Ant-Man,” attached to the film since 2006. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/few-marvels-future-projects-may-160600216.html

Marvel had a reputation of not paying very much for talent. It was one thing when the movies did not gross much. But, now it is hard to justify, and I have a feeling they will lose a lot of talent over it if they do not change.
