Much of my rural area would doubtfully ever get fiber. Too many rural farm roads and mountain areas locally still do not even have cable today. The countryside is filled with satellite dishes almost on every home. Until a few years ago party line telephone service was still in use locally. With those old phone cables, DSL isn't available either. Cell phone service is terrible here too.

I still love my area even if it's like Hooterville. My dish farm fits right in and no one can tell me what size or how many dishes I can have. We can even have clotheslines in the yard.

CHOICES, CHOICES, CHOICES...

I am in the Central California foothills. Thirty miles to nearest city (Fresno/Clovis) and I'm also a half mile off the paved road. That being said, there is a fiber optic cable running up that paved road but only available for the schools and those on a propriatary phone system (I'm not...) for the area. No cable available.

My only options are satellite internet (WildBlue) and satellites dishes galore... which is what I have...
