How to disable Tuner 2 on Dish 625?

I just replaced my DP301 with a Dish 625 DVR. However I really dont have any use of the dual tuner. I just got this receiver from my mom as she didnt need it anymore.

Now the problem is when I wire the coax to just Tuner 1 it works fine, but anytime I turn the receiver off and back on, it starts searching for satellite signal on tuner 2. Any way to just disable this completely?

Only way for me to get back to watching is go back to Point Satellite and change the Tuner 2 to Tuner 1 on the point dish screen. Gets quite annoying.

I know on DirecTV (which I also have) it disables them if it doesnt find signal on that tuner automatically.

If there is no way to disable this, then any workaround to keep it from trying to look for signal on tuner 2 everytime the receiver is turned off and back on?

My goodness, this is a first. Just put the receiver in single mode (behind the front panel). Enable record plus to TV2, so if you want to record something, it won't interrupt you watching something live. Leave well enough alone!!!

What dish are you using? For the 625 to work right you need to have both inputs connected. If you have Dish Pro plus equipment then you just need a dish pro plus separator and you can connect both inputs with one cable. If you have older legacy equipment you need to run a second coax line from the dish to the location of your 625.

Just curious why do you have both Dish and Direct? Isn't that kind of expensive?

I dont believe I have a Dish Pro equipment. I used to just run a simple 18" round dish (actually used to be a directv dish) and single LNB. I i used that to the DP301 Dish receiver. Then the LNB died and got a used dual LNB with a slightly larger dish (about 20"). Its only pointetd to the 61.5 sat. I use Dish ONLY to watch Indian channels. Thats all its used for.

I have DirecTV for my main programming, I use/like them for main programming because I have Sunday Ticket (NFL) with it that we use alot. I have about 5 HD receivers in the house for DirecTV. Dish we just have that single receiver.

So sounds like probably no way to use this properly without running a 2nd line (which I got a feeling is going to be impossible). We already got like 5 coax lines running through the single hole and no more room.

Ah, I see. That is correct, if you aren't using DPP equipment and can't run a second line then you're stuck. You can get DPP equipment pretty cheap though (ebay or from The Dish Store - Powered by Metro25).

Well I shouldve mentioned that when the single LNB failed, I ended up just buying a cheap used Dish500 Dish and an LNB from a local Dish installer. It was like $20.

Attached is a picture. I dont know this is considered the pro dish equipment or not. But you can see the LNB and Dish is DishNetwork branded.

Would this work? If it does, do I just need this multiswitcher inside the house to split the lines into two?

You are lucky, your setup is the rare exception where you can actualy use a power passing satellite grade splitter to get the line to both tuners.

BTW I actually got on a ladder and got up near the sucker and this model LNB is: BS1B1UP001M. I remember when I put it on there was two coax connections on it (even though its a single LNB) and I only ran just one wire to it. So am I to assume this LNB is usable with a special satellite splitter?

I ask because I seem to be getting conflicting information on this LNB. The splitter (i think you are referring to) is the Dish 123254 but its saying has to be used with a DPP Dual LNB. I definitely dont have that.

Some say I need this newer model Single LNBF where its just a single coax connection.

You can use that LNB with your setup as mentioned above. Either use the splitter or just run another cable from the LNB to the 625 receiver. Since you only have one single satellite location, running another cable to the 625 receiver will work.

Got it, so I guess I can just get a hold of one of these splitter/separator Dish part 123254 like this one (DISH Network Dish Pro Plus DPP Separator (ES148534) - DISH Network - 123254 - - DISHPro Plus DPP44 DP44DPP 44 seperator seperater separater DPP DP sep DPP-44 Dish pro plus dish pro adaptor dish pro adapter) and call it a day?

Just wanted to make sure cause all the talk about these splitter/separators keep mention you must be using a DPP Twin LNB, but searching this forum it seems to mention that if you are running a single LNB just to look at one Satellite you can actually use these special splitters to run two feeds to the dual tuner receiver via a single cable.

Cause running another cable is not happening without somem major rework and more drilling, which I prefer not to since we already got 5 coaxials coming from outside in (blame DTV for taking up 4 of the 5).

Separator does need Dish pro plus lnb as it separates frequency ranges.

Just to repeat or clarify what others are saying, do NOT use the Dish separator. That requires a DishPro Plus LNB/switch which you do not have. What you do have is DishPro dual LNB, which is actually all you need. On DishPro LNBs, both polarizations are present (bandstacked) on the one cable. Since you only want one bird, then all you need to do is split that coax with a power-passing splitter such as the link Drdeceased gave above. Using the separator instead would result in even transponders going to one tuner and odd going to the other.
