Here is my problem Thursday night my wife has 2 shows and I have one they all start at the same time.
Vampire diaries ON CW
Survivor ON CBS
Flashforward ON ABC

I know I only can record 2 at a time is there any way around this to be able to record all
I wish there were west coast locals for these type of problems

Simple answer... Nope, there isn't.

Do what I do.

"It's OK dear, your shows will be fine". :heart

You could always check VOD and see if "your" show is available and DL it.

It's such a shame DirecTV does not allow you to own more than one DVR...;)

I wasn't sure if these networks re-broadcast shows at different times like at 3:00 AM

interesting my problem is I would need to run another cable to my old antenna since I can't use the same cable for HD_DTV and OTA
for 60 buck is this owned or leased and how many turners does it have

Don't know what kind of Sat/LNB you have but adding a SWM-8 multiswitch will allow you to run everything on one cable. You will get the benefits of a three cable system on one cable once you connect an antenna feed into the switch. I added a simple Preamp to the bow-tie (UHF) & regular antenna & get 100's across all the OTA channels (20 miles from the transmitter located in an attic).
The unit does need to be powered but is worth every penny vs running a second cable all over the house. You can even hook up to three Legacy units to the switch for any older equipment. :D

Our systems say you can record 2 tuners + ota... never tried it though
You know how accurate your systems are. Shame on you.

Those systems are one of the primary reasons that DIRECTV CSRs get such a bad rap.

The ability to record three programs at once was a "misprint" in the original HR20 manual and was removed from the text some months later.

It is E*'s HD DVRs that can record three (and in some cases, four) live streams.

In the same breath, you need to mention that DIRECTV actively discourages diplexing of OTA.

I guess I could mention it, but the switch comes clearly marked with an OTA in feed & runs flawlessly when using the proper diplexers. I remember reading here about why they discourage using the OTA portion of the feed, but can't remember what the problem was other than DTV losing what comes down the DTV pipe & whether or not you pay for their locals.

I was told that I can not use diplexers with HD and DTV Tech said it interference with KA band
frequency
I haven't tried as I use to use them on my old single lnb dish

As long as they're being used for there intended purpose you will be fine. Use the SWM diplexers with frequecy ranges between 950 & 2150 MHZ & you will be fine. You're really only using them to bring the OTA signal out of the single coaxial run so you can then hook that 2nd coax to either your TV's tuner or AM-21.
