Am thinking about trying one of these. I like there simplicity and there features and the fact I don't have to look on 5 different pc's to find what I'm looking for.
Seeking opinions from the computer genius's of Satellite Guys.

I've been considering one of these myself. I saw a link at another forum for the 470 model at Office Max for $299 with free shipping. I could bring up the page, but saw no way to put it in the cart to confirm the price and shipping. At that price, it was nearly irresistible.

There were some major problems with Windows Home Server but those problems have been dealt with. This past summer I believe.

I too, would like a central location for files. I would have a hard time justifying the cost at full price though as I have few files to share. A spare computer would fit my needs.

WHS has some great features in regards to backups, etc. I say go for it.

I just took a spare computer I had laying around, threw in a few hard drives for storage space (two 300GB and one 1TB) and put Ubuntu server on it. All told it cost me nothing at the time since everything I had was laying around the house.

However, if you want to purchase a server, you could do a lot worse than the one listed here.

I Have one.. great little box. there are a few forums for these.. lots of support on the web.
