Hi all,

Im currently located in Puerto Rico (Caribbean). Served by
DirecTV Latin America with the Galaxy 3C bird located at
95 Degrees West.

I have 3 boxes installed working properly. However, these
boxes (provided by DirecTV) does not provide for Dolby Digital 5.1
output.

I went out i purchased a Hughes SD-DVR40 w/Tivo which provides
5.1 support. When i tried to setup the boxed using one of the current
box cable it doesnt seem to see the satellite. I've noticed that the
new box's firmware automaticaly looks for birds 101, 110 and 119 which
obviously it wont find because the dish is pointing towards 95 Degrees.

How do i make this box see Galaxy 3C @95 Degrees W???
Would it be a firmware modification?
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you tried calling DirecTV LA? I would assume that you must have special STB's in order to receive LA programming. Their number is 866-347-3288 in case you don't have it handy.

What are my options?

Does anyone know of a receiver that supports Dolby Digital 5.1 that can be used with DirecTV LAD????

No offense, but why not just call? The number is toll free 866-347-3288... they even have a website www.directvla.com. I'm sure you can find all the information you need there.

No offense taken, :) ...

Is just that their website is less than worthy of visiting (done that already)...
and....no one ever answers at that phone number.....(been there done that)
even....wrote an email....2 months ago....no response....

I called the local DirecTV office....and they said....No cant do...no such boxes
available.....if you want 5.1 go with Dish Network....lol

So i guess im too stuburn to accetp that as an answer...thats why to took
the risk of spending $149.00 ...buying the SD-DVR40....which i will have to
put on E-Bay to get rid of it....lol....
