Hi,
I was wondering if I could use this dish for FTA? It's 28 inches tall but alot wider. oval dish. I heard the min size for fta is 30 inches, but what about 28 inches? Just 2 inches....

I got a fortec mercury receiver, what do I choose for the LNB type? Are their LNB's good quality?

Thanks

The Hughes internet LNB will not work. You will have to put a normal linear LNB on it. If its like my old Direcway its a custom mod to do so. You might be able to get the stronger transponders with a dish slightly smaller than 30". Unless you have alot of time on your hands I would just visit Sadoun or another sponsor here and get a 33" or bigger dish.

That Dish should be OK on most Transponders, with good weather.

On the LNB itself, there should be a label with some info.
You are looking for the L.O.
Example:
L.O. 10750

What ever the LNB has is what you enter into the receiver.

The Hughesnet/Direcway 23 x 39" elliptical works well for FTA in NorCal. The stock LNB is linear and the transmit portion can be removed to lighten the arm. I prefer this dish, its electronics and heavy duty mount over the flimsy imports and am always on the lookout for freebies.

Not all Hughes Net dishes are created equal.
Please see this recent discussion for more background.
Normally, I'd guarantee your dish & LNB would work fine, but it wasn't so for this member.

Read us any info off the LNB or the transmitter assembly.
And if possible, post us a few pictures.

You forgot to label the Dog !!!! :)

Oooopsy! My bad.. :o

Let's try it again..

Oh yes, and the 72 dish is coming down now and the White Springs 129 dish it now pointed at 97 Galaxy whatever..
