I am not up on my tech talk for direcTv, as I am trying to help my father figure out a problem (and am not a subscriber myself). A few months back, I mounted an 18" round dish for him. I adjusted it and was in the high 90's on almost every transponder. A few weeks ago, he started getting some signal loss on some channels as well as the guide. I tried to retweak the dish, but I couldn't get rid of any of the zeros. These are his readings on Sat 101.

96 97 96 91 96 93 94 74
91 72 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 49 76 80 92 84 68 72
68 83 49 00 00 00 00 00

This was a brand new (old stock) dish and lnb. He does have some kind of unpowered splitter in the attic that he is using to send the signal from one of the outputs on the lnb to 8 different rooms in the house despite the fact that he is only using one (SD) receiver.

Does anyone have any idea what might have happened to this new install to suddenly get so many zeros?
Thanks.

If your using the old 18" set up ...
First I would look to the sky and see if any tree branches, foliage or anything else may have grown into the area of the signal.
It doesn't take much, your other numbers look ok so far.

Then, I would remove the splitter/switch, just bypass it with a barrel to test it, if it improves the signal back up, I'd remove it, if possible.

Kinda depends on your set up weather or not you can remove it.
If you have a Dual LNB, you should run a line to the attic for both recvrs and connect.

Unless that "splitter" is a 6x8, then that splitter is the problem.

I've seen this happen many times, splitter works fine for years, month, even days, and then stops. They aren't designed for this use and shouldn't be used.
