My other posts have talked about satellites and cable companies and if your talking about how much money I have that means nothing because last time I checked several rich guys have won the lotto but I wish I was that rich but I fail to see your point. Also I've only been lucky this last month because most of my life I've never won anything more than 25-50 bucks. Mostly just free tickets to 15 dollar winners. My only three big winners have been two 500 dollar winners and one 200 dollar winner. Now that isn't much when I spend about 20 bucks a week on tickets but I play more for fun than anything.

Also if this isn't chit chat I don't know what is.

No, no, no Longhorn, we were talking about HD921's post.

By the way, congrats! Hopefully I will get lucky and get one of these jobs this week. :)

Most I have ever won was $160 on texas lottery over 10 years ago..(unless I win the powerball tonight...:D ) Btw for those with Ny channels that lottery commercial with the dog is really funny...

The one where the guy keep cussing at the dog and the dog wins the lottery? Its funny.

Remember that the lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math.

I have a coworker that one day played around $15 worth of cash and a couple bucks worth of winning scratch off tickets. He ended up winning about $10, immediately turned around and purchased a few more scratch off tickets, winning $5. He walked away tickled as a feather because he had more winning ticket worth then when he started. It didn't matter that it cost him $15 cash to do it.

I hate those tickets because I never win on them and they take forever to complete. They even made the boxes where you have to scrach off the sides of them at least on the Florida ones. I swear they do this just to annoy the hell out of me and everyone else who plays them.

i dont know if fl is like ny but on the ny scratch off games they have a code in letters, if you get the big games like bingo or crossword i just look for the code its were you would scratch to see what number or letter you got to start playing the game. example if i saw svn mean i won $7.

I had a free ticket, 5 and a 10 dollar winner in my wallet along with 4 losers and I did notice just now when you said this that the bar code of numbers does mean something. On the losing tickets the first number is zero. The free ticket started with 2 and the 5 dollar winner started 54 while the 10 dollar winner started with 10. I never noticed that before and I'll remember this next time just for kicks.

Well I'm at step 2 which is making an ass of myself. I wasn't aware of HD921's posts so I was assuming Iceberg was talking about my posts even though I should know that a staff member wouldn't say that but I guess I've been trained well by another forum I quit with several years ago.

I know what you mean and I'm great at math but when it comes to lotto tickets I just don't care. Now when I go onto the Ocean Jewel and play high stakes poker I do care and very much so and that reminds me I should go back back once they fix the damn boats. I can't afford to be stuck on the Jewel if I'm called. First time I went via Johns Pass they couldn't dock and I ended up waiting on the jewel for a good 16 hours. Oh and the Ocean Jewel is a very big cruise boat that was turned into a casino that sits out in the Ocean about one hour away from any land.

Yup thats the way i go by also, those codes.

Most I won a while back was 300 bucks on Illinois Instant Riches Scratch off tickets. :)

But the other thing is that, i got those 3 TV icons matches to go on the tv game show, twice, but I wasn't choosen in the drawing to go there. :(

Just give the lottery agent clerk, your lottery ticket, and let them put it in the machine, and let them check it automatically.

You just saved yourself lots of time. :) ;)

I figured that out the hard way and if only I could keep up with current events like HD921 I could avoid making a fool of myself. But don't worry I tend to make a fool out of myself on a daily basis. Only online would I share this information that is for sure.

Erm, no.

Actually (and this came from someone with a PhD in statistics) it makes sense to buy powerball tickets right now...

Works out to this..

Odds of winning (1 over 120,526,770) multiplied by the expected jackpot (215,000,000) = about how many tickets you should buy.

So, about 2 for the annuity number, about 1 for the lump sum.
