What is the advantage of the switch?
If you were feeding more than three receivers. What is the advantage of the switch?
he will need the switch or 1000.2 dish to run 3 dual tuner ird's. the dpp twin only supports 2 dual turner ird's.NONE
Just run the 3rd coax. Dunno WTH you'd wanna mess with a switch.

He asked what the advantages were and I told him. So....With a DPP33 switch? I think several folks missed the correction Matt added to his OP. He has a 1000.2 so he has 3 outputs already as I stated above. Plus he's not asking for a 4th connection as yet.
All 3 1000.2 outputs must be used if connecting it up to a switch. As Ed said, there is no point in adding a DPP33, which has no more outputs than the 1000.2. A DPP44, on the other hand, would allow a 4th receiver and additional cascaded switches. Is that what you (KAB) meant to say? I personally find the DPP44 entirely unaffordable and have a DP34 cascaded with a DPP33 instead. (That gives me 4 single-tuner outputs and 3 dual-tuner outputs for half the price of a DPP44.)
