Is the 942 name based or timer based?

Hi eveyone,

I just signed up for Dish Network since they are picking up many of the Voom channels (currently a Voom customer). I am getting a 942 HD-DVR, and was just wondering if it is a name-based recorder (like TiVo), or a timer based recorder (like I think the 921 is)? In other words, when I schedule programs to record, if they move time slots, will the 942 keep up with that?

It does both.

I think that if you opt for Name based, it will switch with shifting schedules. But if you opt for a time/date based, it will not shift.

Which is the way I would want it.

It's HEAVILY based around the 522/625/322 platforms.

Recently installed 2 - 942s and am selling my 2 - TiVos which we loved for over 8 years. If 942 is not TiVo it is close. All basic functions - NBR and Time base recording - plus some nice advanced functions. TiVo will look up show by Director/star name but never used that function. I think you would be happy with 942. Only reservation is it is not MPEG 4.
