Is the DVR feature a part of the receiver's authorization?

Once, I received a replacement 501. The DVR feaures would not work with the replacement receiver until the receiver was authorized.

I was just wondering if the DVR features were a part of the authorization signal of the Nagra 2 system?

I bet someone will say this is hack talk, but it's not!

i have a 7100/7200/501/and 508 all worked without authorisation and cards!

DVR is software enabled. The replacement would've probably had factory software, which wouldn't have had DVR capabilities.
