K so last night my 622 got an error 311.... hard drive fatal error. Dish already has a replacement on the way but i dont remember all my timers that were on there. So for future reference is there any way to maybe back them up on the sling site or any other way besides writing them down. And how easy is it to hook up an external HD to it? Plug and Play?

I keep a list of my timers and my searches in a spreadsheet--the same one that has all my recordings on my 5*750GB+2*1TB disk farm, filling up. I have columns for HD/SD colored by the drive code, DVD+R copy mode from olden times, IMDb rank, IMDb stars, title, IMDb title if different, year, Dish stars, run time, director and actors, date and time recorded, size in MB, size in MB/hr, channel, and a flag for oversized files to be replaced.

Wish I could have more than 96 timers on each of 2 722s as I have to leave some for new shows, just using these for my wish list of top shows and a few actors. How about a Sling wish list?

I have about 1000 movies (60% HD by count, 75% HD by size) and many more things when you count all the episodes for series like Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Futurama, Northern Exposure, Twin Peaks, and The Universe, and PBS--most complete and with some being redone in HD. Yes, a separate sheet for each series. I switched from Excel to NeoOffice.

The Sling site makes it a little easier to copy and paste show names and actors' names but their star ratings may differ from Dish's, slightly. Generally, the IMDb rating determines the disk used or if it is kept--7.6 (about 3.6 stars) is the usual breakpoint.

It becomes an obsession and maybe some day I'll get to watch them.

It would be nice if you could backup your timers to either a external USB drive, or a thumb drive, or heck, even upload your timers to Dish via your online account.
