I have two questions I hope that can be answered, Im pretty sure I already know the answer but what the heck
1.Is it possible to set up a lock so that my 6 year old can not record every cartoon that comes on Nick. Is there a way to set it up so that it asks for a lock code evry time you try to record?
2. I will be watching tv on TV! and my kids will go upstairs to TV2 and I will be recording something and they will change the channel( This one really annoys me). Is there a way to set a lock so that the channel can not be changed while its recording????

I don't think either is possible but this would be awesome if maybe E can implement this at some time. Damn kids....

It sounds like you have record plus enabled. Disable it and they will only be able to record on the tuner connected to their TV.

I will do that. So just to clear things up, there is no way to set a lock for recording? If my kid hits record on the living room tv I was hoping there was a way to set a lock so that you could not record anything until you entered the code...

Also, for any timer recordings set for regular multiple recordings, you can set the maximum number of recordings of that show to be kept. For example, let's say that iCarly is set to record episodes. You can set the maximum number of recordings to 5 and the oldest recording will be erased to allow the 5th to be recorded and so on, never allowing more than 5 recordings to be kept on the DVR. Hopefully your 6 year old won't figure out how to circumvent that.

However, I must say that at 6 years old, the situation you've described ought to be handled as a teaching "training" moment as part of the child's developmental growth for his benefit and your dignity as in he needs to be taught not interrupt others viewing and consider others and if he can not control himself, then he will have consequences. Now, this requires a lot of work for the parents, but that is parenthood. No 6 year old should be in such control as to make anyone seek advice from a tech forum. I never needed any codes for my kids pre-teen years. Hope it works out for you.

Thank you for the life lesson on parenting. I was asking a technical question about a receiver, for a moment I thought I was on the Dr. Phil forums. I have no intrest on how you raised your kids. I was simply using my daughter as an example, my wife is just as guilty as doing the same thing. To the other responders thanks for the info, to LA please keep your responses to the point.
