I live alone in the main house and there is an attached apartment w/ 1 tv.

What I would like to do is have a single SD receiver for the apartment and have a solo hd dvr for the main house.

Is there a way to split the signal on the solo hd dvr to the bedroom? I know I would need to carry the remote back/ forth between the bedroom and LR (the IR will work thru the walls because it works now) . I just don't have a need to have a duo dvr since I live alone and only 1 tv is on at a given time. Seems like I could slpit the output of the receiver before it gets to the tv and send it to both tvs. Any ideas?

Thanks!

A DuoDVR in single mode would not cost you any more monthly than a SoloDVR as long as it is your primary receiver, which it would be. It's only with additional receivers that the fees add up. With the DuoDVR you get the benefit of PIP and, according to some, a more stable software.

A DuoDVR makes coax distribution easier because of the amplified agile modulator, better signal to the remote TV and choice of output channels other than 3 or 4.

Main thing to remember is that the coax output is SD only. If both TVs are HD then you need to connect one with component and the other with HDMI, or get an HDMI splitter or some such device. You'll need some lengthy cables to accomplish this but it can be done.

If the output from the receiver to the TV is the coaxial type (screw-on single cable) then, yes, you should be able to provided the distance from the split to your second TV is not an extremely long distance.
You will need a second cable running from the split to the second TV, of course.
Also, the picture of the 2nd TV won't be HD.

look my friend. chances are you have a 612 or would want a 612 rec. it a uhf remote witch will work so you will not have to go room to room. depending on how far the appt. is from the house you can split out the tv 1. and extend the uhf antanna via a reversed splitter. get yourself a second remote for that reciever and have one in each location. Boom tv in both places no 2nd reciever fee. or go with a dual tunner and do the same with tv 2 so the signal will reach, and you set once again.
