I just finished a bid transaction for a DSR 905 on ebay. The 920s and 922s are all going for several hundred more than I could afford. It is coming with a anolog STB as well, so I can combine the two. I don't know much about this box, It is a Toshiba 1820 and there presently isn't a manual in IceBerg's collection. But looking at the manuals of lower model numbers, it looks like it will provide the dish control that the 905 lacks.

Looks like I now will have something to hook all those control wire up to..

congrats on the pickup! The 905 is a nice unit and works just like the 922 minus analog

some info on the 1820
Toshiba 1800 (1820)

If you have pics of the analog receiver we might be able to match it up with something close.

905 sidecar + Toshiba 1820

Thank for the link Iceberg. The seller offered the Toshiba 1820 for just the extra cost of shipping. Both have manuals and remotes.

I will scan the 1820 manual when I get a chance and submit it to the manual collection.

While I have been shopping for 4DTV and analog STBs, I found the manual collection very useful since I could checkout the unit feature (or lack-there-of). I really appreciate and the discussions and exchange of useful ideas and information.

Thanks, Steve

The 905 has inputs and outputs for the satellite. Both KU & C-Band.

Wiring would be from LNB's to 905 input then the output to the analog. The 905 will not move a dish but can control polarity if you use the older style LNB's (with a polorotor). If you use a voltage LNBF like the 621 it will work also but then you wouldnt need the polarity wires ;)
There is a "A/D" button on the 905 that basically flips "off" the 905 so you can see the analog receiver to move the dish. Also when you move from one sat to another it gives you the option to go directly into Analog mode so you can see the menus on the analog. But if you hook both up directly to the TV you wouldnt have that issue (you can just flip to another input on the TV)

since there isnt much analog out there the analog receiver basically would move the dish :)
